In Wake of Hurricane, Hi-Wire Brewing to Re-Open RAD Beer Garden: Celebration Planned

From Hi-Wire:

ASHEVILLE, NC  (May 7, 2025) — Eight months after Hi-Wire Brewing’s Beer Garden and Distribution Center took on 15 feet of water during the monumental Hurricane Helene last September, the brewery is thrilled to announce the reopening of its flagship location at 284 Lyman Street in Asheville, NC. The public is invited to celebrate at a reopening party on Saturday, May 24th from 12noon to 9PM. The celebration will feature live music, food trucks, visual performers, a makers’ market with local artists and vendors, and, of course, a full line-up of Hi-Wire’s offerings: 24 draft beers on tap, specialty cocktails and slushies, and 16 oz. canned beer available for purchase to-go. The draft lineup includes three silver-medal World-Beer Cup® award-winning beers.  zzubreebym

Bryna Frosaker, co-owner of Hi-Wire, said, “After the storm, we weren’t certain that we would be able to reopen our River Arts facility. Over these last eight months, we’ve received so much support and encouragement from our community. We hope that our reopening in the RAD contributes to RAD’s rising, and that folks continue to visit us and the other incredible artists and businesses that make this place so special.”

Located across the street from the French Broad River, last fall Hi-Wire Brewing faced the full force of the storm’s devastating floods. The raging waters tossed the shipping containers that formed their beer garden like toys, and the entire brewery was inundated with half-a-foot of toxic mud. The losses were staggering: 1.3 million unfilled cans, 200,000 filled cans, merchandise, their offices, and the taproom were all destroyed. Nearby buildings and longtime neighboring businesses were swept away, deepening the impact on the community.

In the wake of the destruction and to commemorate RAD’s renewal, Hi-Wire commissioned local artist XCVI to paint a mural on one of the now-exposed shipping containers in the Beer Garden. The artist describes the piece as “a vision of Asheville’s future through the lens of resilience and renewal.” The mural features Hi-Wire’s iconic tightrope walker, personified and set against a backdrop of mountains, confidently emerging from turbulent waters toward a blooming Dogwood tree rooted in stone. The Dogwood, North Carolina’s state tree, “symbolizes the strength not just of Western NC, but of our entire state. In the immediate aftermath of the hurricane, neighboring cities quickly mobilized to support those in need here. Community care and resilience—helping others in times of crisis—are quite literally in our roots.”In Wake of Hurricane, Hi-Wire Brewing to Re-Open RAD Beer Garden: Celebration Planned
