About Paperback Brewing:

Paperback Brewing Co. is a Glendale-based microbrewery that blends creative storytelling with craft beer. Founded in 2019 by Brandon Monroe and Chris Cesnek, the brewery evolved from their homebrewing days in a garage nicknamed “The Lab.” Both co-founders share a background in entertainment advertising and a passion for craft beer. They honed their brewing skills through programs at UC Davis and White Labs before launching Paperback Brewing.

The brewery officially opened its doors in July 2020, initially offering beer to-go due to COVID-19 restrictions. Despite the challenges, Paperback Brewing produced nearly 2,000 barrels in its first year and expanded its reach to over 400 off-premise accounts, including 188 Trader Joe’s locations.

Flagship Beers

Paperback Brewing offers a diverse lineup of beers, with a focus on IPAs. Some of their flagship beers include:

  • Bunny with a Chainsaw: A Hazy Double IPA brewed with Idaho 7 and Mosaic hops, featuring an 8.4% ABV and 48 IBUs.

  • Tucked in by Strangers: A West Coast IPA with Mosaic hops, boasting a 6.5% ABV and 25 IBUs. This beer won a gold medal at the 2021 California Craft Brewers Cup in the American-Style IPA category.

Brewery Experience

The main taproom is located at 422 Magnolia Ave in Glendale, housed in a reimagined World War II-era quonset hut aircraft hangar. The space features a mezzanine overlooking the brewery's production area and is designed to evoke the feeling of a cozy living room, with bespoke woodwork and vintage furnishings.

In addition to the main location, Paperback Brewing opened a pop-up taproom at 123 N. Artsakh Avenue in Glendale's Arts and Entertainment District. This space focuses on showcasing the brewery's unique beer can art and offers an immersive experience for visitors. While it doesn't serve food, guests are welcome to bring their own or enjoy offerings from nearby eateries.

Community Engagement

Paperback Brewing actively engages with the local community through various initiatives, including hosting book clubs, poetry readings, and author meet-and-greets. These events foster a space where literature and libations intersect, promoting literacy and cultural exchange.
