Woodchuck Hard Cider laid off eight administrative and marketing employees on Friday, the Middlebury-based company announced Monday.
Caitlin Stroupe, Woodchuck's communications manager, wrote in an email to the Burlington Free Press that the layoffs were part of a strategy to remain competitive against "mega brewers" who have expanded into the cider business.
