New Belgium / Ben & Jerry’s Salted Caramel Brownie Coming In 11/2

From New Belgium:

You’ve heard about it, people are talking about it, and now we’re ready to give you the exclusive big scoop behind the beer details of our upcoming Ben & Jerry’s collaboration, Salted Caramel Brownie Brown Ale (can I get a “yum”?).

So what exactly goes into making a Salted Caramel Brownie Brown Ale? As you can guess, a hefty amount of malts and specialty ingredients.

First, off let’s look at the malts: A blend of pale malt, caramel Munich and chocolate malt converge for a wash of caramel, roasted malts, and chocolate. Next, we add specialty ingredients: All natural, free-trade cocoa powder, Bourbon-Madagascar vanilla, and a dose of salt for a sweet-and-savory sensation. Our house ale yeast and a restrained amount of Nugget and Goldings hops round out the ingredient bill. Thirsty yet?

The finished product has a luscious, creamy mouthfeel that caries decadent cocoa and vanilla flavors with a slight saline finish, while an aroma of rich brownie batter, vanilla and dried cherries accents each delicious sip.

“We wanted to create a beer to complement ice cream (salted, caramel, vanilla, chocolate),” says assistant brewmaster Grady Hull. “Each raw material chosen has a direct line to an ice cream ingredient. Individually delicious, but a flavor explosion when paired together.”

Get ready for this special collaboration: It hits Folly Packs late October, and will be in sixers and on draft starting Nov. 2.
