The federal government will give Asheville Regional Airport $300,000 to help the airport lure nonstop service to Denver.
Denver is a significant destination for travelers out of Asheville Regional, airport spokeswoman Tina Kinsey said Wednesday, accounting for the seventh-highest total among destination airports for fliers from Asheville Regional.
Denver International Airport is the nation’s fifth-busiest, and flights there would also provide connections to a number of destinations in the Rocky Mountains and on the West Coast.
