Narragansett Summer Ale

A big thank you to Haley Rose for sending me some Narragansett Summer Ale to try out.  We had Mark Hellendrung on the radio with us a few months ago, and he mentioned the upcoming release of Summer Ale, so I was excited to see it arrive.  Summer Ale pays homage to ‘Gansett’s original Pale Ale and it recently won a Silver medal at the 2011 World Beer Championships.  With warm weather rolling in, Mrs. BeerBuzz & I decided to enjoy some Narragansett Summer Al on the deck this afternoon, and it really made for a great summer beer.  Summer Ale is an easy drinking 4.2% ABV and a surprisingly mild 24IBU.  At first I wasn’t expecting it to carry much hop presence, then when I did taste the obvious Citra-hop flavor, I was equally surprised it was only 24IBU.   Summer Ale carries the Citra tropical-fruit & citrus flavors well,, but ends with a crisp and clean finish, making it a perfect summer beer.  Summer Ale also comes in 16oz cans so it’s great for transporting, and the perfect size to enjoy by yourself.  Cheers to Mark & Haley, I think you have a winner here in Summer Ale and thanks for sending it down.
